I'm the lead pastor at Five Oaks Community Church in Woodbury, MN. Our church's mission is my passion—to bring lives to Christ and Christ to everyday life. My life is pretty much about learning to be more effective at accomplihsing that mission as a church and living it every day. The love of my life, Lois, is an elementary school Reading Specialist. We’re loving our empty nest, and our sons, Henry Michael and Aaron, are loving college life. I really enjoy hiking with my wife (Minnesota is a beautiful place to live), my job, NFL football (I’m reigning champ in my fantasy football league), pick-up basketball and Cuban food (I’m a Cuban-American). I’ve been at Five Oaks since February of 1997, and I’m pumped about the next ten years. I grew up primarily in Miami, FL, got my bachelor’s from Northwestern College (Roseville, MN), master’s from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and D.Min. from Boston University. I taught New Testament at Gordon-Conwell’s urban extension and owned a commercial cleaning business to pay the bills while I was a Ph.D. student in New Testament (I changed to D.Min. after reaching the ABD stage). Previous to coming to Five Oaks, I served as an Associate Pastor at Westlink Christian Church in Wichta, KS.
