I enjoy the more typical format of worship songs in the beginning of the service as an opportunity to give praise to God but I really appreciated this shift in format this week.
In particular I think it was a good format in conjunction with communion and I hope that we do this again on a periodic basis with communion. It really allowed me a lot of personal reflection both in terms of repenting and prayer/praise. I was delighted to see the partnered prayer time that was occurring off to the sides. As you eluded to, I could FEEL God at work in the sanctuary and it was somewhat overwhelming (in a very good way).
The personal time of reflection in conjunction with the set up of stations as an outlet of that reflection and the opportunity to interact with someone else from the church body in prayer was a great mix. In my opinion it allowed people to reflect at their own pace and the opportunity to really breakthrough in personal decisions or recommitments.
Awesome!
